We are dedicated to making this a relaxed, natural and fun experience for you and your family so sit back and let us do what we do best. All portrait sessions are shot on location in the comfort of your own home or at an outdoor location of your choosing. Outdoor sessions are primarily shot using natural light so we recommend scheduling your shoot for early in the morning or late in the afternoon in order to take advantage of the best light. If we are shooting in your home, we will attempt to use natural light whenever possible, but may opt to use a minimal amount of supplemental lighting if we feel that it will help us create a more desirable collection of images. All homes are different. Some allow for a sufficient amount of sunlight to filter through, while others end up needing a little extra help in the sunlight department. Either way, we’lll make it work.
What To Wear:
A good starting point is to put your child in the clothes that they are most comfortable wearing. If this happens to be a Spiderman suit or a fairy outfit with cowboy boots - so be it. If by chance your three-year-old son enjoys wearing a clip-on tie and seersucker blazer while riding his tricycle, then by all means, let’s photograph him in that. You are, after all, the one who knows your child best.
If you feel overwhelmed or unqualified to make style choices, no worries, we can always consult with you over the phone or in person to talk about the types of iimages you’re interested in creating, specific style options, color schemes and accessories. We usually like to have a few different options when it comes to outfits, but our approach can vary depending on the age of your child and various other factors. We encourage you to share information about what types of activities or things they might be into and then we’ll take it from there.
Lastly, while our intention is always to create natural looking images, we’re not opposed to “setting the stage” or “greasing” the proverbial wheels to help ensure that we get what we’re looking for when it comes to producing images that are representative of your child. In some instances this may amount to choosing a particular environment or color scheme or selecting an activity that will engage your child and encourage them to act naturally. Other times, it may just amount to a tweak here and there and then we’re good to go.
